Counting the potatoes... I get asked about the title and I tell people that it's how we live our lives. Our children are autistic. In the early discovery of our first sons autism we would fry potatoes, one of the only things he would eat, but we would have to make sure all of his were the same size or he wouldn't eat. We called it counting the potatoes...

All is well, I've been busy, and lazy. Chritmas and New Years came without any major issues. I'll post somephotos of the boys opening gifts soon, maybe it's too late lol

Bruschetta and Snow
Today was pretty amazing. We took the boys to see snow. We didn't have to drive far. We made a snow man, had a snowball fight, and chased the boys. With all the stuff that has been going on it was nice to let go for a change. After that we came home and made hot coco and ate vegetarian Sloppy Joe's. We didn't eat it on normal bread, we baked bread and ate it open faced style. Logan liked it but Ian was rather repulsed lol He said it was gross and settled for a grilled cheese. We had so much left over bread I decided to make bruschetta. It was really good. I buy all my veggies at a little vegetable stand in Dollars Corner called Four C Produce. I was out of onions but the rest of it went together well. The boys wouldn't touch it. I took some of the bread and made "pizzas" with it. They liked that. They went to bed early, for them. Time to watch TV and plan for the photos I need to finish in the morning.

Sunday morning with Ian
When Sarah has a rare weekend off, and we have no plans, I try to let her sleep in. When she sleeps in it's almost a given Logan will sleep in too. Ian wakes me up at 7am no matter what. It's always something silly, but he just doesn't like to be alone. He doesn't talk a whole lot once I'm up. He just likes to know someone is there, just in case. Most of his time is spent drawing or writing. This morning he wanted to cook. Me not being awake tried to explain to him that being half asleep and playing with fire wasn't a good idea. I go to brush my teeth and when I come back he's happily sitting on the floor eating a microwaved cheese quesadilla. He was so happy he "cooked" it on his own lol He then looked at me and said "I stink Dad, can I take a shower?" I laughed and said "Sure" How is it my right to keep him from smelling good. I'm not my mother. As soon as the shower is over he'll help me make eggs for the rest of the family and re-heat the lemon scones Sarah made last night. Then it's a fun day of finishing fixing the truck and cleaning the office. He says he wants to help, what he usually does is run off with the tools or make 50 copies of his latest drawing. Sometimes life is hard, today, right this moment anyway, things seem pretty okay...

Super Logan or Geronimo!
So Logan thinks he's Superman. He piles pillows up on the floor and jumps off the couch. Normal I know, but he's going to kill himself lol. He waits until we leave the room and does a mad dash to pile pillows. The next thing we here is "GERONIMO!!!" and he jumps. He learned yelling "Geronimo" watching Doctor Who with me btw. To make matters worse he likes to strip completely naked to do it. I'm not worried he'll hurt himself, he's only jumping about a foot off the ground, it does crack me up though lol

Fresh cookies
I thought I would bake cookies for the Sarah and the boys for breakfast. I fried some potatoes and scrambled in some eggs. The cookies come out of the oven to cool, and they look fine to me. Sarah and Logan both eat them and love them. Ian however spent 20 minutes telling me they weren't round enough, and he couldn't eat them unless they were "more round" I went into the baking drawer and found a canning lid.We put them over the cookies and made them round. He was happy they were round, but then decided he wanted toast instead. It was a good morning for him. Logan had a rough morning. He's in that "not sleeping much stage". Parents with autistic children know what I mean. He finally got ready and had another cookie. We lost his backpack but he didn't seem to mind. Life was good for him. We fed the goats, and he got on the bus.
